Cor Lucis Presents: The Book of The Law Study Group

Class – Monday nights, ON HIATUS

Class is on hiatus until February 27. At that time, we will begin with Chapter 3.

We will be looking at Liber L vel Legis verse by verse. There are no “right interpretations”; everyone can be heard. There will be evenings when we only get through 9 or 10 verses. This non-hurried process allows for possibilities of deeper interpretation than is usually available in ordinary classes. If you are new to Thelema, this is a perfect place to start.

USEFUL INFORMATION…

  • Membership and initiation in Cor Lucis is by invitation only, but we can’t invite you if you don’t let us know you are interested. If you would like to be considered for membership, you may download an application. All serious applicants will be reviewed and contacted in regards to the next step.
  • Many have studied magick with desire to perform miraculous acts, some even with the worthy goal of improving their lives, but few have understood the necessity for really knowing who they are as a foundation for their endeavors. Hence, highly skilled practitioners of the art of magick are not common.
  • The ancients considered alchemy a process by which base metal could be transformed into gold. The enlightened among them understood that as the vehicle of the Soul, it is the personality which undergoes the transformation.
  • We offer a graded, step by step program that combines group and private ritual, study, and meditation. Our primary tools are a framework provided by The Golden Dawn, the Tree of Life, the Tarot, and specific explorations into self-understanding. We are not a school of wizards, and all who enter our doors must leave their delusional self behind.
  • Thelema, as put forth in The Book of the Law, is the philosophical belief system on which Cor Lucis is based. Our expression of this belief system is a gentle interpretation with a clear view toward bringing its principles into manifestation, enhancing society in its evolution.
  • Most of our predecessors in the Western Mystery tradition expressed the gender biases prevalent in their own time period. The feminine and masculine are held in equal esteem within Cor Lucis, giving its members the foundation to spread the concepts of equality into all the areas of their day to day lives.
    • How much does it cost?
      Dues are nominal and are to pay the actual expenses of the Order. None of our teachers get any remuneration for the Work.
    • What would be my time commitment?
      If you have one half hour per day to spend to further your way along the spiritual path, that will probably suffice in the early years. Two required meetings per month are spent in group work.
    • Can I leave gracefully?
      No one is ever coerced, or even persuaded to join Cor Lucis, or to stay if they wish to leave. Honorable departure comes with the blessings and good wishes of the group.
  • Personal freedom is truly won only through self-discipline, much as an Olympic gold-medal skater is ‘free’ on the ice because of hours and years of intense practice honing the craft. Exploring and gaining insight into the natural laws of the Universe adds confidence in one’s own Selfhood. The study of magick dwells on acquiring these skills. Cor Lucis is more interested in your eagerness to transform your life into a glorious expression of your own True Will than in the breadth of your reading. We value the pure and open heart.

Cor Lucis is based in Los Angeles, California.
Those considering initiation must reside within reasonable traveling distance to L.A. (meaning, you live in Southern California) in order to be present for the required bi-monthly participation.
We do not provide “astral initiation.”
